Came here for the first, last, and only time. Walked in and sat down. We waited 10 minutes and finally had to get up and get the menus ourselves. Waiter was rude and inattentive. The food was great though. Flavors were all there. I could understand if it was busy, but there were only us and another couple who came in after us, and were greeted and seated right away, as well as received their food before we ever got our appetizer. Based on service alone, we will not be returning.. Kind.of sucks, because the food was so good

I am stunned and saddened at some of the "awful, off the wall comments" about China House. Six months ago my husband and myself "discovered this gem of a place." We regularly eat here about once. The food is excellent and is the best Chinese food I have eaten in El Paso in a long time. This is especially true after after Hong Kong on Mesa Street closed. The quality and quantity of food are no surprise, the food is prepared exactly as ordered, and best of all the food has no bad side effects. Considering the number of clients, the service is excellent (a waiter and waitress), From personal experience it is not always possible "to smile at each client." Unfortunately this is true in El Paso where clients tend be rude, demanding, cheap and want everything for free! THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL FOOD AND JOB YOU ALL DO AT CHINA HOUSE. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The food here is mediocre at best and I usually never say anything bad about an establishments food even if I don't care for it. The "fried rice" tasted like they over salted the rice and threw it in oil without cooking it or adding anything else to it. The broccoli on my husbands plate was more like an aesthetic garnish. Completely inedible. It almost tasted as though it weren't washed properly and was raw. As well the sauce on his plate was barely even able to be tasted. We had to use our own sauce at home to try and fix it. My chicken was alright I suppose but I wouldn't return for it. Needless to say the best thing about the meal were our fortune cookies. I wont be returning. It's not the worst thing out there but nothing I'd like to spend money on again.

Have always chosen to dine for late lunch or early dinner and found service satisfactory and casual. Presentation of meals is delightful. So many entrees found in larger metropolitan area establishments can be found at this easily overlooked strip of shops. I REALLY enjoy EVERYTHING I have ordered here and wish it was not an hour's drive from my part of town so I could try more dishes from the extensive menu. FOH is laid back if you prefer overly attentive service, but personal policy is to tip local establishments more generously to pave a way for those just starting out; unless something is grievously out of order, why not be the change and offer some advice with the employee's pay?

I have always liked the food from China House, closest thing I have come in El Paso to the midwestern chinese cuisine that I miss so much. A few times the chicken in my Chicken Lo Mein was undercooked and I was extremely dissapointed with them but chose to not complain and recook myself as I tend to stop patronizing restaurants I don`t like enough to complain. I enjoy the Lo mein, general tsao`s, and crab rangoons (not much crab agreeably) so far. I have been going here for take out for three years now and it has rarely failed. The few times I have dined in I have been severely disappointed with service. Both times were last year (2012) and the bald white male waiter just didn`t care and was rude, the tall female waitress was okay but nothing special, it seemed like the female owner was doing all the work anyway and the others were off flirting. FIRE HIM for goodness sakes, he is not helping your business and eventually will be more detrimental then he is now!

After an order of 3 delicious spring rolls my wife tasted the wonton soup she couldn't get past the hard wontons. We politely asked for an exchange and Joe said "no, i can get you another one but I won't exchange it", I then tried to explain that she didn't like it and he made it clear that he could care less. We chose to pay our bill (we paid for three soups) and pass on the main course. I will definitely be calling the owner to let her know about my experience and we will NEVER return, ever. And I'll make sure everyone knows about how rude their service was.

I was a frequent visitor. Great food. I thought the rudeness was cultural, but I showed up one Saturday morning (keep in mind I ate here almost every week) and asked to use a table to meet with a customer for just a couple of minutes to sign some documents. No customers were in the place as this was way before lunch. They male server throws his hands up in the air and starts ranting. I ordered tea just to satisfy him so he would calm down. The food is so great I may have some takeout, but if you're into service, look elsewhere. This definitely turned me off...more than the no credit card for less than $10 rule, and the owner talking to herself and ingnoring me. Did I mention they had great food?

The last few comments are not a reflection of the experiences I have had at China House. I have been patronizing this restaurant since it opened. We have always had great food and service. Between the variety, prices and flavors, you can't go wrong with China House. They also are always willing to make slight changes to the dish when we have requested it. I believe that if these persons had asked to speak to the owner, (who is normally there) or contacted her, they would have gotten satisfaction.

A coworker of mine and I (we happen to work for a very larger business in the area) came in for lunch today (10/3/12). We waited about 15 minutes and the waiter didn't even acknowledge our presence. No "I'll be right with you", no smile, not even a nod. When I asked to speak with a manager, the shmuck waiter that had ignored us claimed to be him, I knew this place was a joke. When I tried to let him know the service was unacceptable, he didn't even let me finish. He just turned and walked off. Never again will I set foot in that place and they can bet the word of the awful service will be spread around to my friends, family, AND coworkers.

2 guests, check was combined into 1 bill. I confronted the server and asked politely to seperate the bill. He stated min. charge was 10.00 so he could not seperate 12.96. Why were we not told this when he took out order and no where did I see it written. We were not aware of this until time of payment plius we didn't have any cash. I offered my cc and as I was signing it the server was quick to stretch his neck to try and read if I was writing in a tip. As I walked away with my ftiend he yelled "What No TIP!" "Do not come back, I do not work for Free." Other people were in the rest. and heard this very loud complaint. I work for a large corporation and I scout for good restaurants to place in our internal news letter for employees to enjoy. Needless to say this comment will also will be posted in our internal newsletter so our employees know not to set a foot in this place. As far as I know a tip is earned not a given. All this male server did was serve our water.

I am a bit of a Chinese food fanatic so every time that I travel (which is quite often), I visit different Chinese restaurants all over the world, but my very favorite has to be China House Restaurant located in El Paso, TX at 420 Resler. Better than Golden Dragon in Vegas, better than any PF Changs, just an all around GREAT place to eat. It might not be the largest place or the fanciest, but lets face it...we're really not going to a restaurant because of the actual building, clients go because of the great food and China House Restaurant has just that GREAT food! The Orange Chicken which I had today as a matter of fact is just to die for. So if you're in the area and in the mood for the VERY BEST Chines food check them out!!!

China House is the best chinese restaurant in El Paso. They have great tasting food. I've had a chance to order something different everytime and all the dishes are delicious. It's not a fast pace traditional "buffet" place. It's nice, quiet, and relaxing place. The staff is always very friendly and sometimes jokes around. It makes you feel at ease. They take time to explain the dishes too. I highly recommend China House to anyone who really loves chinese food. Absolutely the best and the price are very reasonable. You don't have to pay high-prices for a big restaurant in a big state of the art building. They are a small but efficient restaurant. They are superb ! You won't believe it until you try it..so come on and go eat at this wonderful place...you won't regret it ! Ric & Dolores Quintero
